Fourth of July DIY Solar Lights

Fourth of July DIY Solar Lights

This fun and easy DIY Light Up Mason Jar is a fun way to pass the time while you are waiting to watch the 4th of July fireworks! All you need are mason jars, solar  lids with lights attached and some paint. I purchased the mason jars and paint at a local craft store and we used stencils and solar lights from Amazon for the jar ine picture. All of these supplies are readily available at a wide variety of places and are relatively inexpensive.

To start, wipe down the outside of the mason jar and make sure it is dry. For the one pictured above we use small star stencils and foam stencil brushes but freehand painting is also fun and you don't have to use any specific kind of brush. When the paint dries, I spray with glass sealer to seal the paint so it doesn't flake off and so far it has lasted several years. We don't wash ours in soapy water but do dry dust it if it is needed. The solar lights and lid insert are very easy to attach, please make sure you read and follow the instructions included with whatever light kit you choose.

After everything was dry and assembled, we set ours all around our yard and hung some in the trees. They look amazing and everyone has fun choosing where to place them and waiting for them to light up when it gets dark and the kids love to do a parade to show off their creations. They also make great centerpieces and party favors for people to take home at the end of the night!

Happy 4th of July!
